Zetafax 2012 delivers new features to streamline system administration

Zetafax 2012, the latest version of the award winning fax server by Equisys, was announced earlier today. The new release delivers enhanced tools designed to make administering and using Zetafax even easier. Amongst the new features available in Zetafax 2012 is Auto Cleanup, a new tool that reduces manual maintenance overheads by automatically managing disk usage. Through configurable rules such as age and volume of messages, Auto Cleanup enables administrators to set permitted quotas within each user’s Inbox and Outbox folders. Quotas are then monitored by the Zetafax Server and managed in accordance with the rules specified. Further enhancements include Delete After Sending a feature that improves the user experience for Zetafax Client users, particularly with systems sending large numbers of faxes. Matching the user experience of popular email clients, user accounts can be configured to automatically remove messages from the Outbox once they have been sent successfully, saving time and improving system performance. Additional features within Zetafax 2012 include 64-bit API support, enabling Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and other customers to integrate 64-bit applications with Zetafax quickly and easily, and support for a new range of Brooktrout fax boards.

GFI Software Wins Product of the Year Award

GFI Software announced its GFI MailArchiver™ solution has won Product of the Year at the sixth annual Network Computing Awards. It highlights the products and services that have made a positive contribution to improving IT networking infrastructure within public and private sector organisations. They are the only awards to recognize excellence in the networking industry where the winners are determined entirely by online nomination and voting, so are a litmus test of end-user market perceptions of what the best networking products are in the market. GFI MailArchiver enables SMBs to address many of the challenges associated with their email system, including managing increasing volumes of email and attachments; maintaining the performance of Microsoft Exchange servers; relying too heavily on PST files or tape backup to retrieve old or deleted emails; complying with the data retention requirements of government regulations; and ensuring that critical information contained in email is not lost and can be restored for business continuity purposes in the event of systems failures or natural disaster. GFI MailArchiver now includes MailInsights, a first-of-its-kind data analysis tool that enables SMBs to maximise the wealth of information contained within their archived email through data mining and report generation.

GFI Offers SMBs Affordable Traditional Backup

GFI Backup revolves around the concept of individual agents running on server and workstation nodes that require data protection. For user-friendliness, GFI Backup 2010 allows the system administrator or IT manager to assign pertinent tasks via the Web management console. The relevant provisioning and scheduling details are then automatically communicated from the management console to the various agents for execution. It might be argued that GFI Backup 2010 does not come with any special support for messaging software (Exchange), SQL servers or other collaboration or enterprise resource planning software. But on the other hand the prices and extensive feature set for basic backup are extremely attractive. The inherent configurability of the software also lends itself to all kinds of deployment scenarios, which SMBs can tailor to their unique business requirements for either LAN or off-site backup.

High Definition VoIP (HD VoIP)

In the past 10 years, Voice over IP has emerged as an alternative to the traditional Telephony (PSTN) allowing a reduction in costs and increased capacity on long-distance telephone calls. While providing for lower costs and greater flexibility on converged voice and data networks, VoIP in general failed to deliver ‘better-than-PSTN’ quality, mainly due to the 3.4 Khz bandwidth limitation of legacy narrowband speech codecs. Capitalizing on expanding IP broadband networks, wideband speech codecs which encode 7.1 Khz of the voice spectrum can now be effectively deployed in VoIP. This enables the doubling of bandwidth for voice communications, allowing the elevation of daily voice communication to be similar to that of FM radio and/or conference room quality. AudioCodes' IP Phones 300HD offer a new dimension of voice call quality and clarity for the IP Telephony market. They are designed to use the most popular wideband coders such as G722, G722.2, G729.A et G711.1. The 300 Series of IP Phone is available in 3 models PoE, with or without power : - The 310HD : 1 Line - 2 Ethernet ports PoE – 10 Speed Dial keys - 2x16 Character LCD Display with backlight - The 320HD : 4 Lines - 2 Ethernet ports PoE - 12 Speed Dial keys with Busy Lamp Field – 132x64 Graphic LCD Display - The 350HD : 6 Lines - 2 Ethernet ports PoE - 12 Speed Dial keys with Busy Lamp Field - 480x272 Color TFT LCD Display The competitively priced IP Phones from AudioCodes will rapidly impose the new HD Standard, with its greatly improved user experience.

We have been watching the developments in mobile video for several years now, and the enthusiasm for video applications as they become more ubiquitous in the handheld space. To help you understand the challenges of mobile video, Dialogic has just completed a new white paper called Mobile Video - A New Opportunity, which not only discusses the market and the types of applications that are popular, but also tells you about the technical issues you and your customers will face, such as the diversity of endpoints, bandwidth constraints, and interactivity. It also discuss architecture and the components you will need. Finally, it introduces the Dialogic® products, which can help you successfully meet the challenges of mobile video. Virtualization dramatically improves the efficiency and availability of resources and applications in your organization. Internal resources are underutilized under the old “one server, one application” model and IT administration departments spend far too much time managing servers rather than innovating. An automated datacenter, built on a VMware virtualization platform, lets you respond to market dynamics faster and more efficiently than ever before. VMware Infrastructure delivers resources, applications—even servers—when and where they’re needed. VMware customers typically save 50-70% on overall IT costs by consolidating their resource pools and delivering highly available machines with VMware Infrastructure.
"Break Free" Leveraging SIP in developing enhanced applications

An examination of the constraints of legacy APIs in application development and an introduction to the SIP Architecture. Over the last 15+ years, literally thousands of enhanced applications have been developed for the legacy telecommunications infrastructure. From simple voicemail, to sophisticated contact center solutions, these Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) applications have built value on top of basic PSTN dial-tone, generating substantial revenue in both products and services. However, many of the CTI applications were developed using a restrictive and hard-to-learn architecture that limits the developer's choices in operating systems, choice of technology suppliers and incurs other serious restraints. This whitepaper will outline a migration strategy that leverages SIP to eliminate many of the past restraints and show how to "break free" from the bonds of the legacy CTI architecture.
Eicon Networks announces SS7 support

Eicon Networks announces new software to provide SS7 signaling protocol support for its Diva Server product line. The new Diva Server SoftSS7 software enables all existing or new applications written to any of the Diva Server APIs, including CAPI, to operate seamlessly in both ISDN and SS7/ISUP carrier environments. This gives Eicon partners the flexibility to fully integrate their existing Diva Server-based applications into carrier networks without any extra development costs. With the new Diva Server SoftSS7 software, only SS7-relevant parameters need to be configured when installing an application with Diva Server PRI/E1 adapters to operate unchanged in a PSTN using SS7 signaling. Diva Server SoftSS7 is ideal for call routing, messaging and 3G video telephony. It can also be used with any application that is directly linked to a carrier network. Adding SS7 to the Diva Server product family enables Eicon partners to expand their current applications and know-how into the carrier market. One of the main benefits is that Eicon makes it possible to use the same hardware for all technologies. Eicon Diva Server SoftSS7 To receive more information click here
